For over 20 years, Bryan Boyd has tackled a variety of arenas in the law and excelled at them all. In each of these areas, Bryan brings a contagious enthusiasm to his work for his clients.
He has worn several hats in his accomplished career. As a renowned legal educator, he has taught a generation of future and current lawyers on the practice of law. As a public servant, he has counseled and advised North Carolina’s highest appellate court, its Justices, and the head of the Judicial Branch. As an advocate, he has represented his clients with compassion and care. Bryan’s clients matter to him, and he has never shied away from a fight against the powerful, from municipalities to large national companies. Bryan believes that no one is greater than another, and he stands ready to walk alongside his clients in what can be their toughest challenges. He doesn’t just represent his clients; he connects with them and skillfully counsels them throughout the process.
Trained.
Bryan graduated with honors from Mars Hill University with a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy in 1996. He graduated from Campbell University School of Law in 2001. In law school, Bryan received several awards, including the most outstanding student in leadership award his final year of law school. He was also an advocate to four national appellate and trial teams, as well as an executive editor of the Campbell Law Review. In less than two years after his graduation, Bryan was invited back to teach law at his alma mater.

Bryan is an award-winning law professor, who has taught over 11 different subjects to over 1500 future and current lawyers. He has over 15 years of experience as both a full-time professor of law, administrator, and adjunct professor to multiple law schools. During his time as a professor, Bryan has developed and instructed his students on many of the subjects they will use throughout their legal careers, including legal research and writing, appellate advocacy, pre-trial litigation, and trial advocacy. He has won the most outstanding professor award four times for his teaching and scholarship excellence, including his very first year of teaching. Bryan is a sought-after speaker, and he continues to teach the next generation of lawyers as an adjunct professor of law and as a continuing legal education provider.
Compassionate.
As early as middle school, Bryan wanted to be a lawyer so that he could help people and work together with them to solve problems. To him, a person is not just a name or their individual case. Instead, the person has a history and a story that needs to be heard. Bryan has this in mind when he works tirelessly for his clients to make sure that their story is heard and that they are seen amid the situation. Bryan is driven in his daily desire to do the best that he can for his clients. He sees every day as an opportunity to work for those that need his help.
Servant.
At the core of his DNA, Bryan believes in service, both professionally and personally. Bryan was unanimously appointed as the Clerk of the Supreme Court of North Carolina in 2016, becoming the 15th person to hold this position since the establishment of the Court in 1818-1819. In that role, he served as the chief advisor and administrator to the Court for the lawyers and people of North Carolina. In addition to his continued service to the profession in teaching the next generation of attorneys, he has championed a number of pro bono initiatives, including previously volunteering his time as an Assistant District Attorney in a local county. Bryan’s service extends beyond the legal profession as he is an active mentor to the youth of his church, serving as a teacher and advisor to the middle and high school groups.

Bryan has spent almost the entirety of his life working and serving in North Carolina. He was born in Asheville, North Carolina and has worked as a lawyer in Raleigh, North Carolina for over 20 years. Bryan is married to Laura Boyd, and they have one daughter. When he is not fighting for his clients, Bryan can be found traveling with his family, hiking the many trails of North Carolina, attending baseball and hockey sporting events, or watching the latest movie in theaters.
